Hi!

I'm Steph.

Senior Art Director +
Graphic Designer + Encaustic Painter Hardworkin' Mama

Thanks for visiting! Here's ME in a nutshell (and that nut would likely be a pecan, as I spent some HOT summers as a kid under my grandparent's giant pecan tree in San Antonio - yep, I'm a Texan born-n-bred!):

I love great design, am a huge stickler for kerning, have a passion for page layout and type (whether it's print or digital). I also love directing video as well as still imagery. I have a knack for luxury clientele. I truly enjoy working with many different talented crews, project managers and client teams. I love texture: paper, leather, fabric, surfaces, even the look of them on-screen. I also love color–exploring it, figuring out what is right for a logo, a background, a prop...color makes the world beautiful!

And when I'm done daydreaming about pretty colors, I'm pretty good at getting stuff done quick when needed. Whether it's a hot project or a hot kiddo (probably waiting to be picked up from band or baseball), I'm on it!

FAVORITE STUFF: Thriller and action movies, Stephen King novels, chai tea, sushi, shoes, ripped jeans, swimming and vacations to Mexican beaches.

2013-2019

STEP UP!

Senior Art Director

I've now mastered shooting on-figure and stills fashion and have crossed into leading teams on large scale projects, art directing and concepting video, and directing a monthly cadence of print direct mail.

2010-2013

HOP!

Assistant AD + Art Director
JCPenney harnessed my love of fashion and started me out with jewelry art direction. I was lucky enough to work on some of the high-profile books that were done during some exciting "turnaround" times in the late 2000's, while also honing my fashion art direction and retail concepting skills. I also had one direct report for a period during this time.

1996-1998

LEARNIN' THE ROPES

Production Manager
Did my time learning design software and the art of layout at the student newspaper at UTA, The Shorthorn. Luckily we were award-winning, so I had to work hard to earn my keep!

1998-2010

MAKIN' THE DONUTS

Intern + AD + Senior AD
David Carter Design Associates laid the groundwork in me for a love of fine paper, excellent typography and beautiful photography. Our luxury clientele expected nothing less than tip-top treatment and that's what we gave them. I project-managed, designed and art-directed for a myriad of 4- and 5-star hospitality clients on large-scale collateral projects.

I'd love to hear from you, especially if you like dogs, action movies or chai tea :-)
